Vashon Island Low Tides

Trucks with a clearance of less than 14" should not travel to/from the north end of Vashon and Point Defiance during the following dates/times. Dates and times listed below are based on the service day which runs from 4:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. the following day. Sailing times past midnight for the service day listed technically fall on the following date.

July 2020

  • July 31, 2020: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. (-1.6 ft)

August 2020

  • August 1, 2020: 8:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. (-2.0 ft)
  • August 2, 2020: 9:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (-2.1 ft)
  • August 3, 2020: 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (-2.0 ft)
  • August 4, 2020: 10:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (-1.8 ft)
  • August 17, 2020: 9:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. (-1.7 ft)
  • August 18, 2020: 9:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. (-2.1 ft)
  • August 19, 2020: 10:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (-2.1 ft)
  • August 20, 2020: 11:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. (-1.7 ft)

This affects the following routes:

At low tides these loading ramps create a steep slope where the hinge at the top causes an extreme angle for trucks or RVs with a low ground clearance. Waiting for a higher tide allows for this angle to lessen at the bridge seat (top). This allows for safer clearances for vehicles low to the ground and keeps them from scraping or hanging up at these locations.
