GLACIER –- A slew of highway improvement projects along State Route 542, also known as the Mount Baker Highway, kick off this summer and will continue for the next few years. The Washington State Department of Transportation will host an open house next week to talk about these projects and others planned for Whatcom County.

The open house on Tuesday, March 7, is an opportunity for the public to learn about the wide array of upcoming safety and highway improvement projects. WSDOT engineers will answer questions and listen to feedback about the projects, ranging from building a bridge at Hedrick Creek, to adding a roundabout at the intersection of State Route 9 and SR 542.

“We’ve got a bevy of great projects coming down the pike for the Mount Baker Highway that will improve safety and keep the road in good shape,” said WSDOT Project Engineer Gabe Ng. “We’re excited to show the community what we’ve got planned and hear any input they have about these jobs.”
