BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – For the third consecutive year, dirt and mud will be scooped by hand and hauled off the State Route 305 Agate Pass Bridge, followed by a low-pressure wash. The annual effort extends the life of the bridge by reducing corrosion and allows for a thorough federally required bridge inspection.

Work Schedule

To accommodate crews and equipment, the bridge will be reduced to one lane during the below hours and days:

  • 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Feb. 13-16
  • 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, Feb. 21-24

Pedestrians will be escorted across the bridge during work hours.

WSDOT needs help from drivers

Drivers can anticipate significant backups in both directions of SR 305 approaching the bridge. WSDOT asks drivers to create a commuting strategy to help keep traffic moving:

  • Plan ahead and allow plenty of extra time
  • Travel early in the morning or later in the afternoon
  • Consider rescheduling or combining discretionary trips

Ferry riders are also encouraged to consider using the Bremerton or Kingston ferries during these times.
