Good To Go! Flex Pass

Flex Pass

A Flex Pass is a kind of Good To Go! pass designed for people who carpool in the I-405 express toll lanes or the SR 167 HOT lanes.

It works on every toll road in Washington and gives you the most flexibility of all our passes. Not only can you use it to pay tolls, it also gives you the option to carpool for free on the SR 167 HOT lanes and the I-405 express toll lanes (see carpool rules).

When are tolling hours?
Tolls are only collected at the following times. Everyone can drive for free (no pass needed) at all other times:

  • I-405 express toll lanes: 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • SR 167 HOT lanes: 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week

Do I need a Flex Pass?

You should get a Flex Pass if:

  • You want to carpool toll-free in the I-405 express toll lanes. The Flex Pass is the only pass that allows you to ride for free in the express toll lanes during tolling hours.
  • You want to sometimes carpool toll-free in the SR 167 HOT lanes and sometimes pay the toll as a solo driver.

You don’t need a Flex Pass if:

  • You only plan to travel as a solo driver – any other Good To Go! pass will work to pay the toll on any Washington state toll road.
  • You only plan to travel in the SR 167 HOT lanes as a carpool. You do not need any Good To Go! pass at all if you are only carpooling on SR 167 (but you won’t be able to use these lanes when you’re by yourself).
  • You don’t drive on I-405 or SR 167 during tolling hours.

How does it work?
The pass has a slider, allowing you to switch between TOLL mode and HOV mode. When you have enough people in the car to travel toll-free in the I-405 express toll lanes or the SR 167 HOT lanes, switch the pass to HOV mode. If you don't qualify to ride toll-free, set your pass to TOLL mode to pay your toll at the lowest rate.

What about other toll roads?
A Flex Pass set to HOV or TOLL mode will allow you to pay your toll at the lowest rate on the SR 520 and Tacoma Narrows bridges. Carpools do not travel for free on these toll roads, so it doesn't matter in which mode your Flex Pass is set.

Do I qualify for a free Flex Pass?
If you carpool on I-405 between Bellevue and Lynnwood at least once per week with at least one other person, you may qualify for a free Flex Pass.

What are the other pass options?
If you’re not carpooling on I-405 or SR 167, then you can use a sticker pass. It works to pay tolls on every toll road in Washington.

Motorcycles should get a Good To Go! motorcycle pass.
