Video - I-405 Express Toll Lanes Basics

Watch a short video to learn about carpooling in the express toll lanes.

The I-405 express toll lanes give you the option to pay a toll for a faster, more reliable trip Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Carpools with enough people can use the lanes toll-free with a Flex Pass.

The lanes are free to most vehicles on weekends, certain holidays and overnight from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Carpools
If your carpool has enough passengers, you can set a Flex Pass to HOV mode to use the express toll lanes for free. The carpool occupancy requirement depends on the time of day.

Monday through Friday
Mornings 5 a.m.-9 a.m. 3+ people
Mid-day 9 a.m.-3 p.m. 2+ people
Afternoons 3 p.m.-7 p.m. 3+ people
