Westbound SR 520 off-ramp to 108th Ave. NE closed for the weekend
BELLEVUE – Drivers heading towards Medina and Seattle from Interstate 405 should plan ahead for construction-related closures of the ramps to State Route 520, along with a weekend-long closure of a nearby off-ramp to Bellevue and Kirkland.
The Washington State Department of Transportation will close the northbound and southbound I-405 ramps to westbound SR 520 at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. In addition, the westbound SR 520 off-ramp to 108th Avenue Northeast will close at 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22. All ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25. Posted detours will direct drivers to alternate routes.
Construction crews need to close the ramps for restriping and asphalt work. Drivers will notice a new configuration on the westbound SR 520 off-ramp to 108th Avenue Northeast once crews reopen the ramps. Part of the Eastside Transit and HOV Project, this work makes room for crews to build the new westbound SR 520 lanes and, beginning early next year, build new direct-access ramps for buses and carpools at 108th Avenue Northeast.
“We appreciate the help we’ve had from drivers making adjustments during construction,” said Fred Tharp, WSDOT Eastside project director. “We’re asking drivers for just a little more patience as we’re on track to wrap work up by summer 2014.”

Closure information is posted on the SR 520 Orange Page. Night work is planned, so residents near the work zone might hear construction noise. More information about the SR 520 Eastside project is online at: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR520Bridge/MedinaTo202/default.htm.
