JUNE 9, 7 P.M. UPDATE

Repairs on the Wenatchee have been completed and service will resume with the 7:20 pm sailing from Seattle.

JUNE 9, 4 P.M. NEWS RELEASE

SEATTLE - The Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division (WSF) removed the 202-car ferry Wenatchee from service for necessary repairs on Wednesday morning, June 9. WSF is operating the Seattle/Bainbridge Island route on one-boat service through the end of the service day today. If the Wenatchee cannot be repaired by the beginning of the service day on Thursday, June 10, WSF will move vessels to restore two-boat service to the Seattle/Bainbridge Island route.

Seattle/Bainbridge Island sailings for the latter part of the service day on Wednesday are as follows:

From Seattle: 4:40 p.m., 6:20 p.m., 8:10 p.m., 10:05 p.m., 12:15 a.m., 1:35 a.m.

From Bainbridge Island: 5:30 p.m., 7:10 p.m., 8:55 p.m., 11:35 p.m., 12:55 a.m.

If crews are able to obtain the needed parts, complete repairs and conduct successful sea trials overnight, the Wenatchee will resume service Thursday morning. If the Wenatchee is not ready for service Thursday morning, WSF plans to move the 124-car Kitsap to the Seattle/Bremerton route and the 188-car Walla Walla to the Bainbridge route. The Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route will operate on a two-boat schedule, with supplemental service provided by the 34-car Hiyu. This vessel assignment will be in place until repairs are successfully completed and tested on the Wenatchee.

The Wenatchee’s main engines overheated and crews are investigating the cause. The vessel was moved to WSF’s Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility Wednesday morning and maintenance crews are working hard to complete repairs to the vessel as quickly as possible.
