WHITE PASS – Crews will repair a slope beneath US 12 near White Pass starting Tuesday, Sept. 1. Drivers will encounter daytime single-lane closures and delays up to 20 minutes long during construction.
Construction work will occur approximately one and a half miles west of White Pass, near a large turn off area on the south side of the highway (mile post 148.48). Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.
The project will repair runoff and erosion issues that have the potential to damage a wall that supports US 12. Crews will install a catch basin and new culvert to reroute water away from the slope, as well as perform minor slope repairs.
Crews expect to finish work by the end of September. This work is highly weather-sensitive and may be cancelled or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. WSDOT will continue to inform the public of traffic impacts as work progresses.
WSDOT awarded the project to Northwest Cascade, Inc. of Puyallup in July for their bid of $249,878.
