STANWOOD – WSDOT will host an open house June 8 to update drivers, business owners and local residents on safety improvements scheduled to begin this summer along 10 miles of State Route 532 between Interstate 5 and Camano Island.

The open house will give the community an opportunity to talk with WSDOT staff and view the latest construction plans for improving intersections, building truck climbing lanes, and building the new General Mark Clark Bridge.

Open house

  • 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 8
  • Stanwood High School, Commons Room, 7400 272nd St NW, Stanwood

WSDOT has recorded an increase in collisions and congestion throughout the SR 532 corridor in the past several years. This safety improvement project will help relieve some of the choke points while reducing collisions along the 10-mile corridor.

Attendees will also learn about tools they can use to stay informed during construction activities, including a roadside AM radio transmitter and an e-mail update list.

Construction is scheduled to begin July 1. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2011.

For those unable to attend the open house, more information about the project is available on the WSDOT Web site at www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR532 or by calling the project hotline at 360-631-3887.
