FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 19, 2009
STANWOOD –Staying up to date on SR 532 corridor improvements in both Snohomish and Island counties will be as easy as checking your e-mail inbox, thanks to a new service from the Washington State Department of Transportation that will begin May 29.
Subscribers to e-mail updates for the SR 532 corridor project will get messages about where and when construction is happening and how that might affect their travel plans.
E-mail updates will typically be sent once a week. The e-mails will give drivers an update on the following week’s construction schedule, helping them to make plans and avoid construction-related delays. To subscribe to the e-mail updates, go to www.wsdot.wa.gov/emailupdates.
Crews will begin several projects on or near SR 532 this summer. The new Amtrak train station, the SR 532 corridor project, repaving of the railroad bridge at 84th Ave. and two projects on I-5 near the SR 532 interchange will bring $107 million in improvements to the area, and will help create or sustain hundreds of jobs (including jobs on the projects, jobs producing materials for the projects, and other jobs in the local community).
WSDOT will do everything possible to reduce delays for drivers, but as is the case with any highway construction, drivers will likely see delays, lane closures or detours during some of the work.
Drivers can also stay informed by:
- Attending the open house from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 8, 2009, at Stanwood High School to learn about the SR 532 projects and ask questions.
- Visiting the project Web site: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/sr532
- Tuning in to 1520 AM on the radio when passing through Stanwood: A roadside AM radio transmitter near Stanwood High School transmits updated construction information 24 hours a day.
- Calling the hot line with questions: Call with your questions, comments or concerns. Phone number: 360-631-3887
- Visiting WSDOT’s construction updates Web site: WSDOT updates the construction update page for all construction projects in Snohomish County - www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/Snohomish/Construction
