REPUBLIC-The Washington State Department of Transportation has announced an emergency speed limit reduction on SR 21 from the Curlew State Park entrance to Kettle River Rd., mileposts 168.4 to 181.18, north of Republic in Ferry County.

The legal speed limit on this section of SR 21 will be reduced to 35 mph for all vehicles. Current weather conditions require a reduced speed limit for protection of the roadway.

The legal speed limit reduction will go into effect on Monday, March 9 , 2009 and be in force until further notice. Warm weather and traffic has caused pavement breakups on this highway section prompting the need for the speed limit restrictions. This should help prevent further damage to the roadway.
