Contractor crews will begin resurfacing work on Wednesday, April 9th on a section of US 2 in Lincoln County. The work will be underway through the Town of Creston then continue 15 miles to the east to Rocklyn Road.
This paving project is a part of the Department’s pavement preservation program The current road surface is deteriorating as a result of routine wear and tear. The existing surface will be ground out and replaced with a new layer of Hot Mix Asphalt. In Davenport, 12th Street (SR 28) will be repaved from the railroad tracks to Morgan Street (US 2). In addition the project includes an asphalt seal and illumination work in the Telford Rest Area parking lot.
Minor work in some locations is scheduled to start on Wednesday. Pavement grinding operations should get underway on Monday, April 14th with about three weeks of work. After the grinding, drivers should be alert for grooved pavement.
Paving will start in early May and should take about three weeks.
During grinding and paving operations, motorists should expect single lane traffic directed by flaggers and pilot cars with possible delays up to 15 minutes at times.
The exact date for the work in Davenport has not been determined. That work will take about two days.
The project should be fully completed by late June. As always, paving work is dependent on the weather. Wet, cool conditions may cause delays to the paving operations on this project.
Poe Asphalt of Clarkston, WA is the prime contractor on this project with a construction bid of $2.774 million.
