WOODLAND – Motorists traveling I-5 northbound over the North Fork Lewis River Bridge (milepost 19.87) will encounter right and center lane closures on Thursday night and early Friday morning for bridge maintenance activities, announces the Washington State Department of Transportation. The lane closures are necessary for maintenance crews to conduct a minor repair operation in the center lane.

The lane closures are scheduled begin at 8:00 p.m. on April 3, as crews begin repairing potholes that have recently appeared on the deck surface. WSDOT anticipates reopening both lanes by 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning.

The double lane closure is necessary for the safety of maintenance crews, as they will be working in the center lane. Traffic will continue to flow in the left lane during the repair operation.

Motorists are asked to slow down and pay attention when traveling through the work zone. Motorists can help maintain traffic flow and posted speeds by merging into the appropriate lane prior to approaching the work zone.

Advanced warning signs will be posted during the closure. Motorists are asked to please pay attention to the warning signs and are also reminded that traffic fines double within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
