BLAINE - Crews will open the new D Street on- and off-ramps Monday, Feb. 11 along SR 543 in Blaine. The ramps are expected to open in the afternoon.
The D Street ramps are the last major part of a $49 million project to relieve congestion and improve safety through Blaine. Remaining work includes directional signs, lane markings and plants, which should be finished by spring.
Crews widened SR 543 from a narrow and congested two-lane road into a five-lane highway with designated lanes for trucks. SR 543 is the third busiest commercial border crossing on the entire U.S.-Canada border.
