RENTON – Next week, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will grade and pave the highway shoulder on southbound SR 167. Alternatively, if rain does not allow paving, crews will conduct electrical work. Construction closures affecting I-405 and SR 167 traffic in Renton and Tukwila the week of Oct. 20-27 include:
SR 167 Mainline
- Saturday night, Oct. 20, crews will close up to two southbound lanes on SR 167 between I-405 and S. 41st St. to grade and pave the roadway. Alternatively, if rainfall occurs, crews will conduct electrical work. The first lane will close at 10 p.m. and all lanes will reopen by 11 a.m. Sunday morning.
- Sunday through Thursday nights, Oct. 21–25, crews will close up to two southbound lanes on SR 167 between I-405 and S. 41st St. to pave the roadway. Alternatively, if rainfall occurs, lane closures during the night will allow crews to conduct electrical work. Crews will close the first lane at 8 p.m. and will reopen all lanes by 6 a.m. each morning.
I-405 Mainline
The I-405 Renton Widening Project, officially known as the I-405/I-5 to SR 169 Stage 1 - Widening Project, is the first stage of improvements on I-405 between I-5 and State Route 169 (Maple Valley Highway). This work will help relieve congestion at one of the worst I-405 bottlenecks by adding lanes and improving merging conditions for the drive in and out of Renton and Tukwila.
