Washington's new Secretary of Transportation, Paula Hammond, has announced some organizational changes and appointments, "These changes reflect the Governor's desire that we operate more like a business and my commitment to her to continue to find ways to innovate."
- Dave Dye will serve as Chief Operating Officer, a new position focusing on the day-to-day operations of the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) across all lines of business. He will also maintain a presence on the Puget Sound region project teams and their major projects. Dye will also help coordinate with the Regional Transportation Improvement District and will maintain a presence on the Puget Sound area project teams who are working on the region's mega-projects (for example, the Alaskan Way Viaduct and seawall replacement, SR 520 bridge replacement and I-405 corridor improvements).
- Steve Reinmuth has a strategic role as the Chief of Staff. Reinmuth will play a key strategic leadership and management role and will help maintain a strong working relationship with the Governor, state and federal legislators and their staffs.
- Amy Arnis will serve as WSDOT's Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary for Strategic Planning and Finance, responsible for all things related to planning, programming and budget.
Hammond added, "While our organization may be evolving, some things won't change. We're still doing everything we can to enhance safety, preserve our transportation systems and keep people and goods moving."
