CHEHALIS – Beginning Oct. 1, LaBree Bridge will close until construction of the new interchange is complete. An eight day closure of Maurin Road will also begin, lasting from Oct. 1 to Oct. 8.
During the closure of Maurin Road, crews will be constructing the new intersection of Bishop and Maurin Roads. Crews will be realigning the roadway, reconstructing a portion of Maurin Road and then will be paving.
During the closure of LaBree Road, crews will complete work needed for the removal of the structure. After the structure is removed, a new interchange will be built at the location. The new interchange is expected to be functional late next year.
During the closure of Maurin Road, the detours will be:
• From the north: Beginning at the intersection of Bishop Road and Sturdevant Road., motorists will be routed to Jackson Highway, then onto Maurin road from Jackson Highway.
• From the south: Beginning at the intersection of Rush Road and Bishop Road, motorists will be directed to Jackson Highway and back to Maurin Road from Jackson Highway.
Construction of the I-5, Rush Road to 13th Street project began in July. Construction is expected to be complete in 2009. For more information on this project, visit the project Web page at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/i5/RushRd13thSt.
Advanced warning signs will be posted during the slowdowns. Motorists are asked to please pay attention to the warning signs. Motorists are also reminded that all traffic fines are doubled within a construction work zone when workers are present (RCW 46.61.527).
