BLAINE - Crews will close one lane of I-5 during the day in either direction to install traffic detection systems next week in Blaine. Only one lane of I-5 will be closed at a time. Drivers will still be able to get through the work zone.
Schedule:
- 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 through Friday Sept. 21 - Crews will close lanes of I-5 from Dakota Creek to the border.
This work is part of a larger project to install 10 new cameras and traffic detecting equipment at Blaine, Lynden and Sumas. WSDOT will use the new equipment to broadcast information and wait times on roadside signs, radios and the Web, so drivers can choose the quickest route to Canada.
Visit Customs and Border Protection's Web page for more information about crossing the border.
