KIRKLAND – Next week crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will install signs and pave sections of the roadway.
Crews plan to stop work at noon Friday, August 31st for the holiday weekend, and will resume work at noon on Tuesday, September 4th. Construction closures affecting I-405 drivers in Kirkland the week of August 31- September 7 include:
I-405 Mainline
- Tuesday through Thursday nights, crews will close up to three lanes in each direction from NE 85th to NE 116th Streets to pave the roadway. Northbound, the first lane will close at 9 p.m. each night with up to three lanes closed by midnight. All northbound lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. each following morning. Southbound, the first lane will close at 7 p.m. each night with up to three lanes closed by 11 p.m. All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each following morning.
- Tuesday through Friday, drivers should expect daily closures of the northbound and southbound far right lane between NE 85th and NE 116th Streets except during rush hours while crews install signs, inspect pavement and conduct plant maintenance.
- Friday night, September 7, crews will close up to three northbound lanes from NE 85th to NE 116th Streets to pave the roadway. The first lane will close at 9 p.m. each night with up to three lanes closed by midnight. All lanes will reopen by 7 a.m. At least one lane will remain open to traffic.
- Wednesday through Friday, drivers should expect daily closures of the northbound and southbound HOV lanes except during rush hours while crews work on the new HOV ramps north of the NE 128th Street bridge.
I-405/ NE 85th Street Interchange
- Tuesday through Thursday nights, crews will close the northbound on-ramp from NE 85th Street and the southbound off-ramp to NE 85th Street from 9 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. each following morning to pave the ramps. Drivers should look for and follow detour signs on I-405 and local streets.
I-405/NE 116th Street Interchange
- Tuesday through Thursday nights, crews will close the northbound off-ramp to NE 116th Street and the southbound on-ramp from NE 116th Street from 9 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. each following morning to pave the ramps. Drivers should look for and follow detour signs on I-405 and local streets.
Kirkland streets affected by I-405 construction
