I-405 Construction Updates in Bellevue Aug. 31 – Sept. 7

BELLEVUE – Next week, crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will continue repairing pavement on southbound I-405 in South Bellevue; install temporary lights, and retaining wall pilings; and work to restore the Kelsey Creek Park wetland.

Crews plan to stop work at noon Friday, August 31st for the holiday weekend, and will resume work at noon on Tuesday, September 4th. Construction closures affecting I-405 drivers in Bellevue the week of August 31 – Sept. 7 include:

I-405 Mainline

  • Tuesday through Thursday nights, crews will close up to two northbound lanes from 112th Ave SE to Coal Creek Parkway to drill pilings for a retaining wall and install lights. Crews will close the first lane at 8 p.m., closing up to two lanes by 11 p.m. Crews will reopen all lanes by 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Tuesday through Thursday nights, drivers can expect up to three southbound lanes closed between SE 8th Street to I-90 while crews replace concrete panels on the roadway. Crews will close the first lane at 8 p.m., closing up to three lanes by 11 p.m. Crews will reopen all lanes by 5 a.m. the following morning.

I-405/I-90 Interchange

  • Thursday night, crews will close the right lane of the northbound I-405 exit to eastbound I-90 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday morning to install temporary lights.
  • Friday morning, Sept. 7, crews will close the southbound I-405 on-ramps from eastbound and westbound I-90 and the northbound I-405 off-ramps to eastbound and westbound I-90 for a short time (about 5 minutes) between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. to string temporary overhead power lines.

I-405/Coal Creek Parkway Interchange

  • Wednesday and Thursday, crews will close the left lane of the southbound I-405 off-ramp to eastbound Coal Creek Parkway and one eastbound lane on Coal Creek Parkway under the bridge at I-405 from 9 p.m. each night to 3:30 a.m. each following morning for survey and utility work.

I-405/SE 8th Street Interchange

  • Tuesday through Thursday nights, crews will close lanes on the northbound and southbound I-405 on- and off-ramps at SE 8th Street, as well as a section of SE 8th Street under I-405, from 10 p.m. each night to 5 a.m. each following morning to drill holes for soil samples and locate utilities.

City Streets

  • Tuesday through Friday, crews will close the right, westbound lane of the Lake Hills Connector near Richards Road from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to remove fill dirt and continue the Kelsey Creek wetland restoration.
