KIRKLAND – Next week crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will install signs, inspect pavement and pave sections of the roadway.
Next week, we will limit lane closures on northbound I-405 due to around-the-clock lane closures on northbound I-5 in Seattle associated with the I-5 Spokane Street Bridge Repair project. Construction closures affecting I-405 traffic in Kirkland the week of August 17-24 include:
I-405 Mainline
- Sunday through Thursday, drivers should expect daily closures of the far right southbound lane between NE 116th and NE 85th Streets except during rush hours while crews inspect pavement and work on the shoulder.
- Saturday through Thursday nights, crews will close up to three southbound lanes from NE 116th to NE 85th Streets to pave the roadway. Crews will close the first lane at 7 p.m. each night with up to three lanes closed by 11 p.m. All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each following morning.
- Expect daily closures of the southbound HOV lane except during morning rush hours while crews work on the new HOV ramps north of the NE 128th Street bridge.
I-405/ NE 85th Street Interchange
- Monday through Thursday nights, crews will close the southbound off-ramp to NE 85th Street from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each following morning to pave a section of the roadway. A signed detour will be in place.
I-405/NE 116th Street Interchange
- Sunday through Thursday nights, crews will close the southbound on-ramp from NE 116th Street from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each following morning to pave a section of the roadway and install traffic loop detectors. A signed detour will be in place.
