BELLEVUE – Next week crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will prepare to expand the I-405 bridge over Coal Creek Parkway; widen the northbound I-405 on-ramp from 112th Ave SE; and begin pavement repair on southbound I-405 in South Bellevue. Repairs to the concrete roadway in both directions of I-405 will continue through late fall or early winter.

Next week, we will limit lane closures on northbound I-405 due to around-the-clock lane closures on northbound I-5 in Seattle associated with the I-5 Spokane Street Bridge Repair project. Construction closures affecting I-405 traffic in Bellevue the week of Aug. 17-24 include:

I-405 Mainline

  • Monday through Thursday nights, crews will close up to three lanes of southbound I-405 from SE 8th Street to I-90 for pavement repair between 8 p.m and 5 a.m. each following day.
  • Thursday night, crews will close the southbound left lane between Coal Creek Parkway and 112th Ave. SE from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday morning for electrical work.

I-405/Coal Creek Parkway Interchange

  • Monday night, crews will close the northbound on-ramp from Coal Creek Parkway from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday morning to install temporary barrier.

I-405/I-90 Interchange

  • Tuesday and Wednesday nights, crews will close the southbound I-405 on-ramp from westbound I-90 and one lane on the southbound I-405 ramp from eastbound I-90 from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. each following day. These closures will allow crews to modify the ramps.

These closures are necessary for construction of WSDOT’s I-405, South Bellevue Widening Project. For more information or to sign up for e-mail updates, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/i405/.
