BAINBRIDGE ISLAND –For the next two weekends, motorists using the State Route (SR) 305 Agate Pass Bridge should expect travel delays as WSDOT crews perform annual inspections.
The Saturday and Sunday inspections are scheduled for July 28 and 29 and August 4 and 5 from 5 to 9 a.m. During the inspection work delays of up to 15 minutes are expected. The bridge will be open to single-lane, alternating traffic, so drivers are encouraged to plan their commute accordingly and give themselves plenty of time to get to their destination.
This work requires the use of an under bridge inspection truck or UBIT, making it necessary for the inspections to take place during daylight hours
Opened on Oct. 7, 1950, Agate Pass Bridge is 1,229 feet long and currently averages 22,000 vehicles per day. The bridge is the primary link between the Winslow ferry terminal and the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas.
Drivers can call 5-1-1 or visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/traffic/ for road and traffic updates.
