Work was postponed after worker was killed in work zone
WSDOT and contractor Rinker Materials plan to resume SR 20 paving the week of July 30 west of Burlington after a two-week hiatus.
Work was postponed one week for Rinker to grieve the loss of their friend and coworker when he was killed in a work zone Thursday, July 12. Work was postponed a second week to reschedule an asphalt grinder. The asphalt grinder is in high demand and scheduled tightly on other projects around the area during the summer.
The exact schedule is yet to be determined. Crews should know by mid-week next week when and where they will start. Four days of grinding and paving remain in the eastbound lanes between the SR 20 Spur and SR 536.
Drivers are encouraged to sign up for SR 20 e-mail updates to get the latest information on current and future SR 20 construction at www.wsdot.wa.gov/Northwest/EmailUpdates.
