EVERETT – This weekend, crews working for WSDOT plan to close the ramp from northbound I-5 to US 2 Saturday and into Sunday morning. Crews need to pave the section of I-5 next to the US 2 exit. The weekend closure is necessary because the concrete pour will take more time than a weeknight closure allows.
- 5 a.m. Saturday, June 30 through 6 a.m. Sunday, July 1 – Crews will close the northbound I-5 ramp to US 2. The left lane of eastbound Hewitt Ave. will also be closed.
Drivers heading east on US 2 will detour to the Marine View Drive exit where they will turn left and then back onto southbound I-5 and onto eastbound US 2.
This paving is an important step toward opening the new HOV lanes and auxiliary lanes that are a part of the major improvements to I-5 through Everett, Snohomish County’s most notorious choke point. The $263 million project is scheduled to be complete by summer 2008.
