SNOHOMISH – WSDOT is ready to share the latest design plans to relieve congestion and improve safety on SR 9 between 176th Street SE and Marsh Road.
From 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, WSDOT will host an open house at Valley View Middle School in Snohomish. WSDOT engineers will answer questions from the public and provide the latest design plans to make this section of SR 9 a safer road that will handle the growing traffic volumes more efficiently.
The design team has spent the last nine months working with the community and local property owners to answer questions and incorporate any feedback into their project designs.
“We are excited to return to the public with the latest designs and move forward with this project,” said Project Manager Dawn McIntosh.
Displays at the open house will show the various improvements in the project including widening 1.5 miles SR 9 from SR 96 to Marsh Road just south of Snohomish, rebuilding the intersection at Marsh Road/Airport Way/Springhetti Road and new turn lanes and signals at several intersections.
In summer 2008, WSDOT will start construction on this $47 million project, which is funded by the 2003 and 2005 gas taxes. This project is one of 11 planned for the SR 9 corridor worth more than $285 million.
