EDGEWOOD – WSDOT staff will discuss the status of the State Route 161, 36th to Jovita, widening project at an open house scheduled for 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Edgemont Junior High School, 2300 110th Ave. E., in Edgewood.
This widening project through Edgewood and Milton has two scheduled construction phases. The open house will focus mainly on Phase 1, which adds two highway lanes from 24th Street East to Milton Way. The purchase of right of way for Phase 1 will proceed this summer, with construction scheduled to start in early 2010.
WSDOT staff will be available to provide a project update and display the proposed design.
Up to this point, public involvement in the project has included meetings with city councils, business owners and residential property owners, an access hearing, and open houses.
