WSDOT asks commuters for patience and to keep trying
GIG HARBOR – The response has been overwhelming – literally overwhelming.
WSDOT is asking commuters to keep trying to sign-up online for Good To Go!, the state’s first electronic toll collection system for the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge, after a surge of visitors pushed computer servers over capacity this morning.
“We’re seeing such incredible numbers of people signing up that our online system is at or near capacity” said Lucinda Broussard, Good To Go! operations manager. “We are asking commuters to be patient and to keep trying. As more people sign-up, space should free up allowing others to get into the sign-up page.”
On the first day of opening more 1,834 people signed up for Good To Go! with 86% of the people using the online sign-up feature. There were over 4,400 visits to the Good To Go! website yesterday.
“We’re thrilled there has been such a strong response for Good To Go!” said Broussard. “Drivers are clearly ready for a faster, more reliable commute across the Tacoma Narrows.”
Good To Go! is easy to get and use – and signing up only requires a minimum of $30 on the account. Good To Go! utilizes a small transponder that adheres to the inside of a vehicle's windshield. The transponder is read by an antenna mounted over the roadway. Each time a vehicle approaches the toll collection area, the antenna reads the transponder and the system automatically debits the toll from the Good To Go! customer’s prepaid account, allowing the driver to maintain highway speeds.
You can sign up online at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/goodtogo/ , by calling toll free (866) 936-8246, faxing an application to (253) 853-4235 or by visiting the customer service center located at 3212 50th Street Court, Suite 200, Gig Harbor. Applications also can be mailed to P.O. Box 5050, Gig Harbor, WA 98335-5050.
