I-405 Construction Updates in Kirkland March 23 – 30

KIRKLAND – Next week crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will demolish portions of the HOV ramps north of the NE 128th Street bridge, reconstruct the median, install new drains, landscape and put up new signs. Construction closures affecting I-405 traffic in Kirkland the week of March 23 – 30 include:

I-405 Mainline

  • Expect daily closures of the northbound and southbound HOV lanes except during rush hours while crews demolish portions of the new HOV ramps north of the NE 128th Street bridge. WSDOT is repairing a structural problem in the construction of the ramps before the ramps open to traffic. For more information, please visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/i405/TotemLake/ramps.
  • Monday through Thursday nights, drivers should expect closures of up to three lanes in each direction near NE 116th Street while crews reconstruct the median and install drains. Northbound, the first lane will close at 9 p.m. each night with up to three lanes closed by 12 a.m. All northbound lanes will re-open by 6 a.m. each following morning. Southbound, crews will close the first lane beginning at 7 p.m. each night with up to three lanes closed by 11 p.m. All southbound lanes will re-open by 5 a.m. each following morning.
  • Monday through Friday crews may close the right northbound lane near NE 85th Street between 6 a.m. each morning and 1 p.m. each afternoon to landscape and put up signs. On Friday, all lanes will reopen by noon.
  • Monday through Friday, crews may close the right southbound lane near NE 116th Street between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day to landscape and work on the noise wall. On Friday, all lanes will re-open by noon.

Kirkland streets affected by I-405 construction

  • UPDATED - On Jan. 8, crews closed the intersection of 116th Avenue NE and NE 128th Street for reconstruction. It is currently estimated that the intersection will reopen in early April. For more information, please visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/i405/TotemLake/construction.
