TOKELAND – Starting Monday, March 26, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will reduce the posted speed limit on State Route 105 through the Shoalwater Indian Reservation area. Speed limit revisions will begin at the east end of the Reservation (milepost 18.4), continue through reservation area, and end at the west end of the Reservation (milepost 18.9).

The speed limit within the Shoalwater Reservation area will be changed from 45 mph to 35 mph. Motorists traveling SR 105 will be alerted of the need to slow down from 55 mph to 35 mph upon entering the area.

The Shoalwater Bay Tribe requested the speed limit change out of concerns for the safety of motorists and pedestrians.
