Contact: Public Information Officer Danielle Cogan, 360-816-8857

VANCOUVER - An additional open house on the Columbia River Crossing project has been scheduled for Monday, February 5, 2007, in Vancouver. This date was added after a similar event, scheduled for January 17 in Battle Ground, Washington, was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Details for the new event:

Monday, February 5, 2007
4:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)
11018 NE 51st Circle
Vancouver, Washington
Bus: C-TRAN #80 VanMall / Fisher’s

The open house will focus on project staff’s recommendation for alternatives to carry forward into a Draft Environmental Impact Statement for further study in 2007. This recommendation includes replacing the current Interstate 5 crossing with a new bridge and advancing bus rapid transit and light rail transit, both with express bus service. For more information on the staff recommendation, please visit the project Web site at www.ColumbiaRiverCrossing.org.

The Columbia River Crossing Task Force, the project’s bi-state advisory committee, will decide whether to accept or modify the staff recommendation at its meeting on February 27, 2007, 4:00 p.m., Oregon Department of Transportation, 123 NW Flanders Street in Portland.

Public comments on the staff recommendation will be included in the Task Force comment report one week prior to their February 27 decision meeting. Written comments may be emailed to feedback@columbiarivercrossing.org, faxed to (360) 737-0294, or mailed to 700 Washington Street, Suite 300, Vancouver, Washington 98660. Comments may also be made during the spoken public comment portion of the February 27 Task Force meeting.

The Columbia River Crossing is a bridge, transit, and highway project charged with improving safety and congestion on Interstate 5 between State Route 500 in Vancouver and approximately Columbia Boulevard in Portland.
