KIRKLAND – Next week crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will build noise walls, install signs and lights, landscape near the freeway, and work on the new HOV direct access ramps. Construction closures affecting I-405 traffic the week of Feb. 2 - 9 include:

  • Daily closures of the northbound and southbound HOV lanes near NE 128th Street except during rush hours. Crews will be working on the new HOV ramps.
  • Monday through Friday crews will close the northbound right lane between NE 85th Street and NE 116th Street between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day, and between 9 p.m. each night and 6 a.m. each following morning to install signs and begin tree planting.
  • Monday through Friday crews will close the southbound right lane between NE 116th Street and NE 85th Street between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day to install signs and begin tree planting.
  • Monday through Friday nights drivers should expect closures of up to three lanes in each direction near NE 116th Street while crews install lighting. The first southbound lane will close as early as 7 p.m., and the first northbound lane will close as early as 9 p.m. with up to three lanes closed in each direction by 11 p.m.  All southbound lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. each following morning, all northbound lanes will reopen by 6 a.m.

These closures are necessary for construction of WSDOT’s Kirkland Nickel Improvement Project and Sound Transit’s Totem Lake Freeway Station Project.  For more information or to sign up for e-mail updates, visit www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/i405.
