SEATTLE – The Washington State Department of Transportation will host an open house in Issaquah on Wednesday, Jan. 31, to present design plans and proposed construction schedules for a project that widens SR 900 from Newport Way to SE 82nd Street (west of Talus Drive) in Issaquah. This informational open house is an opportunity for the public to learn about the project, talk with project staff, and view design displays.
Where: Issaquah Trail Center; 110 SE Bush Street, Issaquah
When: Wednesday, Jan. 31 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
This $22.2 million project funded by the 2003 Nickel Funding Package adds an additional lane in each direction of SR 900, a bike-only lane and a raised sidewalk. Construction is scheduled to begin spring 2008 and conclude in fall 2009.
Issaquah is one of Washington's fastest growing cities and this rapid growth is evident in the increasing traffic congestion on SR 900. About 16,000 vehicles travel the soon-to-be-widened section from Newport Way to SE 82nd Street daily. As the city continues to grow, it is crucial to expand and improve the roadway to maintain highway efficiency and safety.
Those who cannot attend the open house can learn more about the project at: www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR900/SE78th_Issaquah
