SEATTLE –  Drivers who exit Interstate 5 and I-90 at Fourth Avenue S. in Seattle may face delays during the morning commute until May.

Over the next four months crews working for WSDOT will demolish the old Fourth Avenue S. on-ramp to I-5 and I-90 and a portion of the I-90 off-ramp to Fourth Avenue S.  The demolition will help make room for upcoming King Street Station expansion.

WSDOT will close the left turn lane at the bottom of the off-ramp to protect drivers and workers during the demolition.  From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, crews will reduce the off-ramp to one lane for restriping and signal retiming.  Washington State Patrol troopers will direct traffic through the intersection while city of Seattle crews retime the signal.   Saturday’s restriping and signal work is necessary to help move traffic efficiently on the two turn lanes that will remain open during the demolition.  Drivers should expect some additional congestion on the ramp during the morning commute when traffic is at its peak.
