SR 20/Burlington to Sedro-Woolley - Corridor Improvements

Project overview

WSDOT is currently working on design plans to address safety concerns along the State Route 20 corridor between Sedro-Woolley and Burlington. The intent of this project is to improve safety along this busy stretch of highway with the construction of intersection roundabouts, pedestrian crossings, raised median curb to discourage mid-block left turn movements, improved overhead lighting and the removal of a traffic signal to alleviate congestion.

Roundabout locations:
• State Route 20 and Gardner Road (milepost 61)
• State Route 20 and District Line Road (milepost 62)
• State Route 20 and Collins Road (milepost 63)

Timeline
Fall 2025 to Fall of 2026

What to expect

Construction on this project is not scheduled to begin before summer of 2026, however between now and then, crews may be on site occasionally as part of design and pre-construction.

Once construction begins, travelers should expect eastbound and westbound traffic along SR 20 to alternate through a single lane throughout the project.

This project will make intersection improvements along State Route 20 between Burlington and Sedro-Woolley.
