Project overview
This project preserves multiple state routes across Spokane, Lincoln, Whitman, and Pend Orielle Counties in Eastern Washington.
Chip sealing is the application of a special protective wearing surface to an existing pavement. Included in the chip seal project will be constructing bituminous surface treatment (BST), planning bituminous pavement, crack sealing, hot mix asphalt (HMA) paving, pavement repair, and prelevel, removing existing overlay from bridge decks, bridge deck repair, placing waterproof membrane, crushed surfacing top course, centerline rumble strips, fog seal, pavement markings, guideposts, traffic control and other work.
What to expect
During construction, travelers can expect a reduced speed approaching the work zone and intermittent single-lane closures. Drivers can expect one-way alternating traffic with flaggers at times. Please remember to slow down in work zones and watch for road crews.
This project included chip sealing on the following routes:
SR 20 – Pend Orielle Mill to Newport (13.99 miles)
SR 23 – US 195 to I-90 (43.59 miles)
SR 23 – I-90 to Lords Creek Road (10.18 miles)
SR 194 – Almota to US 195 (21.01 miles)
SR 206 – Bruce Road to Mt. Spokane State Park (12.96 miles)
