US 2 Mount Index River Road to Eagle Falls Resurfacing - #9372

Description: In 2019, WSDOT contractor crews will resurface nearly four miles of US 2 between Mount Index Road near Index and Eagle Falls west of Halford. Travelers should expect 20-45 minute delays behind this work zone, which requires daytime closures and warm and dry temperatures.

SR 9 Tawes Creek and Two Tributaries to Tawes Creek - Fish Passage - #9380

Description: In 2019, Washington State Department of Transportation contractor crews will remove three fish barriers under State Route 9 in the community of Van Zandt in Whatcom County.

  • Monday, June 17 to Friday, June 21 - Crews working for AT&T will close a single lane of SR 9 between Potter Road and Rutsatz Road from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily for utility relocation work. Flaggers will alternate traffic through an open lane.
  • Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 -  Expect traffic to be alternated during daylight hours on SR 9 between Potter Road and Rutsatz Road for utility relocation work on both days.
  • Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23 -  Expect traffic to be alternated during daylight hours on SR 9 between Potter Road and Rutsatz Road for utility relocation work on both days.
  • Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 -  Expect traffic to be alternated during daylight hours on SR 9 between Potter Road and Rutsatz Road for utility relocation work on both days.
  • Fish passage construction is expected to start in summer 2019.

SR 542 I-5 to Britton Road - Paving and ADA Compliance - #9362

SR 542 Bellingham to Kendall Area Resurfacing - #9372

SR 544 Everson Area: Puget Sound Energy Utility Work

Description: Puget Sound Energy crews are performing utility work along SR 544 in Everson.
Work schedule:

  • Until further notice - Puget Sound Energy crews will close one lane of SR 544 from SR 539/Guide Meridian Road to Hannegan Road daily, including weekends, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and brief holds to traffic in all directions could happen between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Travelers should also expect occasional tree trimming work, lane closures and traffic holds east of Hannegan during working hours.

SR 547 Peaceful Valley/Sumas Area Resurfacing - #9372

  • Saturday, June 15, to the morning of Friday, June 21 - A single lane of each direction of SR 536 between the Skagit River Bridge and I-5 will close intermittently from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly.

Island County

SR 20 Banta Road and Northgate Drive - Intersection Improvements - #9382

Description: In 2019, WSDOT contractor crews are building a roundabout at SR 20 and Banta Road/Northgate Drive on Whidbey Island. In advance of roundabout construction, companies with utilities in this area will work to locate and move equipment.
