Landslide webinar for those living on bluffs above the railroad tracks

Property owners and residents along the bluffs above the railroad tracks are encouraged to learn more about the risks of landslides in your neighborhood. This video is of a webinar for homeowners that was held on May 12, 2025, to share information about landslides with those living in Clark County, Washington. However, it is relevant for anyone living above steep slopes who wants to learn more about how landslides occur and actions you can take to reduce the risks.

The webinar was hosted by the Washington State Department of Transportation, Clark County, BNSF Railway, and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. 

The slides presented at the webinar (PDF 3.996 KB) are available for review and downloading, including information on landslide warning signs and ways you can protect your property. 


 

How we manage the trains

Trains travel to 18 cities on the I-5 corridor between Vancouver, BC (Canada), Seattle, Portland and Eugene. Amtrak Cascades passenger trains are paid for primarily by ticket revenue, and by sponsorship from WSDOT and ODOT.

Train safety

It is very important to stay away from railroad tracks. If you must cross tracks, only do so at designated crossings while following all the safety signage and rules.
