US 2 - I-5 Interchange to Bickford Ave Vic - Paving - Project detours

Contractor crews will need to close the westbound lanes of US 2 between the SR 204 interchange and I-5 interchange for six weekends. During the closures they will remove broken asphalt, inspect the trestle, make necessary repairs, apply a new coat of waterproof material and repave the highway.

The fact the waterproof material must be applied to a completely dry surface that hasn't been exposed to rain for at least 24 hours, and must be installed in dry conditions to make sure it bonds properly. For this reason, all closures are weather-dependent.

This work is tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday on the following weekends:

  • July 13 – July 16 COMPLETED
  • July 20 – July 23
  • August 3 - August 6
  • August 10 - August 13
  • August 17 - August 20
  • September 7 - September 10

During the first four full weekend closures of the westbound US 2 Hewitt Avenue trestle, 20th Street Southeast will become the detour route for westbound traffic. View larger map (pdf 811 kb)
