SR 99 - George Washington Bridge - Painting (Stage 2) & Paving - Weekend closures

During four weekends in spring and summer 2019, contractor crews scraped and repaved the driving surface of the SR 99 Aurora bridge in Seattle. They also repaired an expansion joint on the bridge deck and resealed six other expansion joints. The contract allowed up to 10 weekend-long lane reductions with the bridge to finish the work, which was scheduled for:

  • May 31-June 3: Complete
  • June 14-17: Complete
  • July 12-15: Postponed
  • Aug. 9-12: Postponed
  • Aug. 16-19: Complete

Overnight lane reductions are still planned for adding the final lane striping and may be needed for other work as well. This work will be finished this fall.
