SR 529 - Steamboat Slough - Mitigation Site - Project map

A map showing the location of a mitigation project to restore natural habitat along SR 529.
During summer 2019 contractor crews will restore about 11 acres of land along Steamboat Slough near Marysville to its natural state. Crews will remove trees, excavate fill that was placed on the site more that 50 years ago and breach dikes that were built more than 120 years ago. This will restore the site to an estuarine (saltwater and freshwater mixing together) habitat, providing more area for young salmon to grow before heading out to sea.
