SR 510 - Meridian Rd SE - Roundabout

Project news

  • During spring 2019, WSDOT will build a modern roundabout at the intersections of State Route 510 and Meridian Road Southeast. Learn more at the linked YouTube video.
  • Traffic impacts will be minimized during construction as the roundabout will be built just east of the existing roadway.
  • See how roundabouts work.

Needs & Benefits

Safety is WSDOT’s number one priority. This intersection has been identified as a location with a history of collisions. A roundabout at this location offers the greatest safety benefit by reducing the potential for severe collisions, while improving connectivity along the corridor. Roundabouts move traffic through an intersection more efficiently and with less congestion. Traffic approaching a roundabout yield rather than coming to a complete stop and waiting for a traffic signal. Other benefits include improved access onto Meridian Road Northeast and increased sight distance.

How to use a roundabout:

  • Slow down before entering the roundabout.
  • Yield to traffic already in the roundabout. Wait for a gap and then enter the roundabout.
  • Use turn signals when exiting the roundabout.

Timeline

  • Construction: Spring 2019
