SR 18 - EB Soosette Creek to Holder Creek - Paving & Deck Overlay - Closure details & maps

Around-the-clock work on westbound SR 18 at Issaquah-Hobart Road

From Monday, May 13 - Tuesday, July 30, contractor crews extended the one-lane section of westbound SR 18 by about a half-mile, across the Issaquah-Hobart Road overpass. This temporary configuration remained in place around-the-clock while crews repaired and repaved the bridge deck. The speed limit was also reduced to 50 mph during this work, and oversized vehicles were prohibited from traveling in the westbound direction across the bridge.

The highway returned to its regular two-lane westbound configuration at 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 30.

Work plan & maps

Contractor crews worked in one lane at a time. They first grinded off the old concrete in the right lane, make any needed repairs to the bridge deck and repaved it. When that was complete, they shifted traffic onto the new pavement and repeated the process in the left lane.

 Overnight full closures
The project will require several overnight full closures of westbound SR 18 so crews can safely set temporary barriers, pour new concrete and restripe. During these closures, travelers will use the Issaquah-Hobart Road off- and on-ramps to bypass the work zone, with a uniformed police officer directing traffic at the intersection.
