SR 161 - Milton Rd S Vicinity to SR 18 - Paving & ADA Compliance - Complete July 2019

Overview

In summer 2019, contractor crews from Tucci & Sons Inc. repaved both directions of SR 161 between Milton Road South and SR 18 in Federal Way. Crews also assessed the transitions from sidewalks to crosswalks, known as curb ramps, and upgraded them when necessary to provide better sidewalk connections for people of all abilities.

How you benefit

  • Safety: Eliminating ruts and cracks in the pavement reduces the opportunity for water to collect on the roadway, which can reduce traction for vehicles. Reconstructed curb ramps improves access along the highway for people of all abilities.
  • Economic/Preservation: Repaving this section of SR 161 preserves the highway structure and reduces the need for costly repairs.

Funding

The total project cost was $2.66 million.
