New I-5/Thorne Lane interchange

  • I-5 will have 4 lanes in each direction.
  • New Thorne Lane interchange will feature two bridge structures.
  • Southbound I-5 travelers exiting to Thorne Lane and Berkeley Street will use a shared exit point to Thorne Lane and Berkeley Street. Drivers will then follow designated lanes to each interchange. This includes all travelers going to Madigan Army Medical Center and Camp Murray.
  • Roundabouts, built to accomodate semi-trucks, will improve traffic flow and reduce the potential for collisions.
  • New interchange will be grade separated from the railroad.
  • This design will add capacity and improve traffic flow.
  • During construction, the new interchange will be built adjacent to the existing overpass.
