I-5 - Plum St to S Tacoma Way - Paving

Project news

Needs & benefits

Crews will repave sections of I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma. The project will also repair three bridges in Thurston and Pierce Counties. Two bridges carry vehicles on I-5 in Olympia and Nisqually. The third bridge is Vickery Avenue over SR 512 in Parkland.

Asphalt cracks and ruts can create potholes that may require occasional emergency repairs and untimely lane closures. Crews will also replace I-5 expansion joints and bridge approach slabs that extend the useful life of the highway. After years of wear, the Vickery Avenue Bridge will receive a new surface.
