Connecting Washington project to improve the I-5/Slater Road interchange

FERNDALE – Taking a short survey could help determine the future of the Interstate 5/Slater Road interchange in Whatcom County. The Legislature has allocated funding from the Connecting Washington transportation package to make improvements to Slater Road from Rural Avenue in Ferndale, through the I-5 interchange to Northwest Drive in Whatcom County.

A 10 minute survey is currently available online to help Washington State Department of Transportation engineers determine community priorities when designing potential corridor improvements.

"We want to make sure that this interchange meets the needs of the surrounding communities by designing it to solve the problems people currently encounter," said Project Engineer Melissa Ambler.

WSDOT staff will be available at a question and answer session to answer questions about the survey and future design stages.
