Oct. 3 event to thank customers for riding out recent construction changes

SEATTLE – To thank customers for their patience during recent Colman Dock construction changes, Washington State Ferries is throwing an appreciation event for many of its Seattle riders on Thursday, Oct. 3. Festivities will take place in conjunction with WSF’s annual Seahawks floating pep rally featuring Seahawks legend Edwin Bailey.

The celebration kicks off aboard Walla Walla during the 3 p.m. Bremerton to Seattle sailing. Seahawks 12s are invited to wear team colors and bring their stadium voices as they make their way to the 5:20 p.m. Thursday Night Football game against the Los Angeles Rams at CenturyLink Field. This is the fifth year WSF has hosted the popular party that will climax upon entry into Colman Dock at 4 p.m.

For the first time, the pep rally will feature two bands. The Kingston High School Band and the West Seattle High School Band will help amp up the home team spirit. There will also be a “most decked out fan” contest and group cheer as the vessel approaches Colman Dock.

Fans are encouraged to beat the post-game scramble by checking the current sailing schedule and buying ferry tickets in advance for their return trip home.

Westbound walk-on commuter benefits Oct. 3 too
On the busy Thursday afternoon commute sailings out of Seattle at 4:15 p.m. to Bremerton and 4:45 p.m. to Bainbridge Island, walk-on passengers have the option to receive a voucher for a free refreshment from the vessel’s galley, courtesy of the Colman Dock Project contractor Hoffman-Pacific. Project staff will also be available to listen to feedback and answer questions about recent access changes and upcoming construction activities.

Washington State Ferries, a division of the Washington State Department of Transportation, is the largest ferry system in the U.S. and safely and efficiently carries nearly 25 million people a year through some of the most majestic scenery in the world.  For breaking news and the latest information, follow WSF on Twitter.
