Project Info

US 101 - 2.2 miles South of Beacon Pt Road - Emergency Slope Stabilization - Complete October 2015

Overview
Contractor crews working for WSDOT built a large retaining wall and repaired a broken culvert on US 101 at milepost 316.5 to help stabilize a steep slope below the highway. Heavy rains during the week of Dec. 8, 2014 washed out approximately 75 feet of the northbound US 101 shoulder.

All lanes of US 101 at milepost 316.5 reopened to traffic and pre-construction speed limits were reinstated in October 2015.

How you benefit

Improves safety
By installing a retaining wall and repairing a broken culvert, WSDOT has reduced the potential for future slides.

Relieves congestion
This project reduces the possibility of emergency closures and traffic delays due to slides.
