SR 504 - Kid Valley Rd Vic to Johnston Ridge - Chip Seal - Completed September 2016

In summer 2016, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation resurface 34 miles of SR 504, between Kid Valley Road and the Johnston Ridge Observatory, in Cowlitz County.

The asphalt on several portions of SR 504 were showing signs of deterioration, cracking and rutting.

The work extends the life of the road, improves driver safety and reduces the need for emergency maintenance repairs.

How you benefit

Improves safety
Repairing and resurfacing the highway reduces rutting and cracking, and makes for a safer and smoother ride.

Creating more friction for vehicle tires improves traction and safety.

Economic incentive
Doing the repair work saves money in the long term and helps reduce the need for costly emergency repairs.
